They soon find themselves in a small apartment with a group of people then a girl, Kishimoto appears in front of Kurono completely naked.( Wow I never seen inside of a boob before). Then they are all introduced to Gantz, a mysterious man in a sphere who tells them that their lives are over and they all belong him now. Gantz orders them to hunt down and kill aliens living on earth.

The best way to describe Gantz is that it's has a lot of style but very little substance which can be seen in the semi-original plot to the nudity, sex and extreme violence. Nudity and violence is not the only thing going for Gantz, it also has excellent animation and uses CG well which is to be expected from Gonzo. Gantz is also not without it's problems for example most of the characters are naive morons (I mean they could of saved Nishi but they just stood there and did nothing) and the ending was confusing. Anyway if you like lots of violence and nudity then Gantz
is the series for you but for the rest of us might want to stay away.

Gantz gets a 6/10.

Quick anime reviews

.hack//SIGN 7.0
.hack//Intermezzo 7.0
.hack//Unison 6.0
Ghost in the shell: SAC 8.5
Gundam SEED 7.0
Witch Hunter Robin 8.0
Dragon ball 5.0
Dragon ball Z 4.0
Dragon ball GT 3.0
Yu-gi-oh: The movie 1.0
Inuyasha: The movie 7.0
Inuyasha: The movie 2 7.5
Kaleido Star 9.0
Godannar 7.5
Happy Lesson 7.0
Jing: King of Bandits 5.5
Blue Seed 8.0

Madlax review

Quick review
Year it was made: 2003
Studio: Bee Train
Distribution: ADV films
Format: Series
Where I saw it: On DVD (personal collection)
Subbed/Dubbed/Both: Both
Genre: Action/Fantasy/Drama/Girls with Guns
Length: 26 episodes

Story: 9/10
Characters: 9/10
Animation: 10/10
Art: 10/10
CGI: 10/10
Fanservice: 9/10
Action: 10/10
Music: 10/10
SFX: 10/10
Japanese VA: 9/10
English VA: 9.5/10

In depth review
When I started watching this series I had passed it off as a Noir clone but that is not the case. Sure, it has it's similarities like a mostly female cast of characters, a shojo-ai subplots and a girl who is really good at killing people but thats where the similarities end. Madlax has it's own unique story line which blends elements of action and fantasy. The story starts with a little girl named Laetitia talking about a place where people don't desire and then Madlax is introduced, a 17 year old girl wearing a military style jacket, short shorts (Astro boy short), knee high boots and two SIG P-210 pistols. Madlax is a mercenary who is sent on missions by her boss 3-speed or SSS. The missions she goes on would be considered suicide by a normal person but Madlax isn't normal, she's "different". She is an expert markswomen (actually beyond expert) and almost always seems to evade bullets effortlessly. The story is set in a country called Gazth-Sonika where the rebels (Gaztha) and the kingdom army are locked in a bitter civil war with no end which was started by a secret criminal organization with a silly French name, Enfant which is lead by the evil Friday Monday. The second episode we introduced to Margaret Burton a 17 year old orphan, she has no memories of before she was 12, she spaces out a lot, she is also the heir to her families fortune and she also has a book called Secondari which is valuable to Enfant.
Margaret lives in a peaceful country called Nafrece where she lives with her maid Elenore and her tutor Vanessa.Vanessa works for a company called Bookwall which is connected to Enfant.
She ties Madlax's story line and Margaret's story line together.

The first thing you will notice is that Madlax is f*ing beautiful with great backgrounds, visual effects, smooth animation and excellent character design. Madlax not only looks beautiful but sounds beautiful as well, with a soundtrack by Yuki Kajiura and songs by Fiction Junction Yuuka
like "Hitomi no Kakera" and "inside your heart". The voice acting is great on the Japanese dub as well as the English dub. Madlax also has it's problems; the fanservice seemed out of place given serious tone of the series and the converging of Madlax's and Margaret's story lines drags on a little too long.

Overall, Madlax is a great series. It gets 9.5/10.

Sexy Losers webcomic

Sexy Losers is one of the sickest and one of the funniest webcomics I have ever read. The art in this webcomic is a little on the crude side but it more than makes for it in humor of a sexual nature (which is not for everybody). The comic has no actually overall plot but it has number of story lines which are all hilarious. I will do a brief summary of the major story lines in Sexy Losers.

Warning the following summaries may mention sex, oral sex (both kinds), anal sex, gay sex, lesbianism, necrophilia, excessive masturbation, incest, tentacles, bukkake, Geogre Michael, urination, eating of human feces, bondage, rape, cross dressing, suicide and the violation of computer equipment.

Madame X
This strip is a guy who wants to score with a famous female hentai artist who goes by the name Madame X. The problem is Madame X is more interested in drawing sex than actually having sex.

Suicide Girl
It's about a girl wants to commit suicide but the only thing stopping her is a necrophiliac who wants to have sex with her after she dies.

Mike's Left Hand
An hilarious strip about a guy (Mike) who masturbates a lot (Paul Ruben times a million) which disturbs his roommate Mark.

Horny Mom
It's about a Mom who is horny and makes sexual advances toward her son and her son's girlfriend.

There is all that and more in this comic.

P.S. Anyway, on with the guide (rant).

The BLOC a federal party whose sole purpose is to separate Quebec from the rest of Canada which is a cause staler then week old pouten ( pouten your colon may say no but your taste buds say oui).

The NDP a party which has never won an election in it's fifty year history because their political beliefs are too left which is at odds with what most Canadians believe. So their become the governments "conscience" ( naive idealism) as an opposition party, that can thrive in a minority parliament riding on the backs of the Liberal party (save a horse ride a Liberal).

Now for my favorite party (the one I love to hate), the Liberals a party which basically has a political tentacle into every school girl that we call this great country. They have influence over unions and crown corporations, which is pretty much everything with any real political power. The reason their are my favorite party is because they represent everything wrong and ass backwards with this country. Hear is a list of everything that's wrong with Liberal party.

-They believe that they have a god given right to govern.
-Runs the country as if it where an empire and treats the provinces as if they where colonies.
-Supported by extremely wealthy Canadians who want favors.

My advice for the Conservatives.
1). Dump the religious right, they are dragging the party down.
2). Support same-sex marriage.
3). Don't try to out Liberal the Liberals on social programs.
End of guide.

My AMV

Sorry, about the lack of posts laterly I haven't been motived to post. Anyway I have been creating my own AMV's using the AMV app I downloaded at animemusicvideo.org. I tried looking for ways to put it on RWA but I couldn't find any useful information on it. So what I want to do is email my AMV to whoever's interested in seeing it. If you are interested in seeing it, please email me at grimaldi14@hotmail.com and request it.

This AMV is called maidens with black hands; the anime I used is Noir and it is set to the battle theme from the movie Gladiator. It's 9 megabytes in size and in wmv format. Part 4

This is the last installment of my series on the Airborne.

Why it should be brought back.

There are two reasons for bringing back the Airborne; first is to aloud the Canadian Forces to finally recover from the Somalia affair which left sour taste in a lot of soldiers mouth's (which I will talk more about in a future post). Second to have a force which is large, light and mobile that can be send to the world's political hot spots.

What I think the Airborne should be.

I think the Airborne should be a mobile peace making force or deployed in a national emergency which is similar in nature to the U.S. Marine Corp. Some similarities should include separating the Airborne from the army and give it's own branch of the Canadian Forces (Navy, Air force, Army, Airborne) and train the soldiers to be aggressive. The soldiers should undergo jump training, so they can use parachute when necessary and prove that they are tough enough to be in the Airborne. The Airborne should also be able to go anywhere in the world within 24 to 48 hours and conduct peace making or war fighting operations to control a hostile situation until a larger force takes over or assist in a large operation with the rest of the military and allies.

In conclusion, if our country wants play a role in global security than it needs the Airborne.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://rightwinganime.blogspot.com/2006/05/what-ever-happen-to-airborne-part-4.html' title='What ever happen to the Airborne? If you can tell the difference between a Ford Mustang Cobra and a Shelby Mustang Cobra GT-500 then this anime is for you. If you are new to anime and looking to start a DVD collection then Gunsmith Cats is for you. Gunsmith Cats is loosely based on the manga of the same name, created by Kenichi Sonoda (Kenichi Sonoda created Gunsmith Cats because of an anime called Riding Bean which had Rally Vincent in it but legal wrangling between ARTMIC and Youmex, the two companies who produced the anime, over copy right issues. So he made some changes and created a manga called Gunsmith Cats). This anime probably invented the girls with guns genre.

Gunsmith Cats is about a gunsmith/bounty hunter named Rally Vincent and her friend Minnie-May Hopkins, a explosive obsessed; former lady of the night. In this OVA, Rally and May are blackmailed into helping an ATF agent named Bill Collins to solve a gun running case. However things get more complex when a Russian assassin is sent to tide up the gun running operations loose ends.

The first thing you will probably notice is that the animation is almost sub-par but background art is pretty good (Chicago actually looks like Chicago). Where Gunsmith Cats really shines, is the weapons which are all accurately modeled. There is also a lot of fanservice but it's pretty tame when compared to the manga. The action in this anime is pretty solid with fire fights and a high speed car chase. The music in Gunsmith Cats has a jazzy, early 90's vibe and the cars and guns sound like the real thing.

I would have like to see it become a series but that's unlikely. It gets a 8 out of 10 and a RWA award for being a conservative anime.

RWA is on hiatus

RWA is on hiatus and will back hopefully by the the first week in May.

Elfen Lied review

Scientist: There she is. To start off with Elfen Lied is the bloodiest and the most disturbing anime have seen thus far. What's disturbing about Elfen Lied is it contains things like a puppy being killed by kids, kids being killed by kids, a pedophille step Dad and a general level of ultra violents, cruelty and dismemberment that makes The Passion of the Christ look like a Disney release in comparison but this anime also has redeeming qualities.

Elfen Lied is about a mutant girl with horns called a Dycloneus, named Lucy, who escapes from a laboratory killing anyone in her way and anyone unfortunate to cross her path (poor Kisaragi) with her invisible hands called vectors and when she made it to the outside, she is graised by a fifty caliber bullet from a sniper, knocking her out cold and knocking her off a cliff to the beach below. We then are introduced to Kouta who has a traumatic past that he can't remember and his cousin Yuka who is in love with him. They come across Lucy who is naked on a beach and she can only say the word nyu. So they decide name her Nyu and take her home with them. They also take in a runaway named Miyu in later episodes. The secret government organization which are not convinced that Lucy is dead they send Bandoh a soldier/psychopath and after that they send Nana another dycloneus to kill or capture Lucy but she doesn't want to kill her (the fight doesn't end well, poor Nana). What a complex story.

The visuals in Elfen Lied are on par with other anime series that have high production values, the animation is pretty smooth, the backgrounds look great, the CG on the vectors is cool and theres a lot of blood and gore which is nice. My only complaint with the visuals is that the nudity got a little excessive in some parts. The audio is good with a great opening theme called lilium, a great ending theme called Be your girl but it doesn't fit the overall tone of the series because it's too upbeat, great voice acting but the voice of Yuka got on my nerves a little and the background music is good as well.

I would have given Elfen Lied a ten but because of the ending which didn't tie up a lot of loose ends, so it gets 9.5 Nanas tied to a crucifix out of ten.

What ever happen to the Airborne? General Allard envisioned a large, short term force until a larger regular force can be moved in, rapid-reaction, light mobile force, suited to overseas missions and use parachutes if necessary which will be used in overseas reinforcement and intervention missions within N.A.T.O. Problems occurred when the Airborne was transform into a specialized parachute force, which called into question the Airborne relevance because a parachute force was rarely needed and this was at odds with what General Allard designed it for. The Airbornes fate was seal however, when the media got a hold of a video tape containing bizarre hazing rituals and then the Somalia affair, where four soldiers of the regiment where charged with the beating death of a Somali civilian. The Canadian Airborne Regiment was disbanded on September 1, 1995.

A Battalion usually consists of 300-1000 soldiers and is usually lead by a Lieutenant Colonel.

A Regiment usually consists of 2000-3000 soldiers and is usually lead by a Colonel.

A Division usually consists of 10,000-20,000 soldiers and is usually lead by a Major General.

N.A.T.O is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://rightwinganime.blogspot.com/2006/02/what-ever-happen-to-airborne-part-3.html' title='What ever happen to the Airborne? I love this game, Resident Evil 4 is up there with Super Mario 64, The Legend Zelda: Ocaria of Time, Final Fantasy 7 and Halo as one of the greatest games of all time.

Year it was released: 2005
Released by: Capcom
Console I played it on: PS2 (the only console I have)
ESRB rating: Mature

Story: 7.5/10
Game Play: 10/10
Replay Value: 10/10
Controls: 9/10
NPC A.I.: 10/10
Extras: 10/10
Graphics: 10/10
SFX: 10/10
Music: 9/10
length: 35 to 50 hours

In depth review
If there ever was a video game series that needed to evolve, that would be Resident Evil and like the fish that was born with legs to walk on the beach, it has which ensures it's survival (take that fundamentalist Christians and take that intelligence design crap and cram it up your collective ass's. Wait, what was I talking about again? Oh yes Resident Evil 4, I kinda trailed off there). Before I get to the graphics, the audio and the story, I would like to go through the major improves to the series.

Resident Evil 4 has 3D environments instead of the pre-rendered 2D environments of the previous games. The game has an over the shoulder view and a first person view, if you use the sniper rifle (borrowed from Silent Hill) which is good but sometimes you might get blind sided by an enemy. Also you can control the camera to look around with the right analog stick (borrowed from Metal Gear Solid 2) but only 180 degrees of movement. You can also use the right analog stick to zoom in and out with the binoculars and sniper rifle scope. The one improvement to the camera that should be considered in future Resident Evil games is the ability to adjust it on the fly like in the SOCOM games.

One thing I hated about the previous Resident Evil games was the awkward controls which have been changed in this game. The developers used a first person movement controls, so you know where your going. The controls have room for improvement (not to say the controls are bad, there actually they are really good). One improvement I would make is to get rid of that damn run button (which is the square button) and use left analog stick by pressing it forward to walk and pressing it all the way forward to run(like in Mario 64). Another improvement that should be made is some kind of quick equip system by assigning each weapon to an L1, L2, R1, R2 to cut down on using the inventory screen to change weapons (for example if you need the shotgun press the button you assigned it to, to equip it and then hold that button to aim the shotgun and use the X button to fire it). The last improvement I would make would be to use the action only for cinematic stuff like jumping out and dodging enemy attacks, not for climbing over objects or jumping gaps or climbing ladders, you should be able walk up to it and do it by pushing forward on the left analog stick.

Resident Evil 4 graphics are some of the best I have seen on a PS2. The music is pretty good but not memorable and the sound effects are very realistic. The game play is great, different from the previous games because it always offers something new, the puzzle are logical, epic boss battles, challenging and has an a moving forward level design with very little back tracking for things like keys or special items. The new inventory system also reduces back tracking by letting you to carry a lot of weapons and items and you can carry an unlimited number of special items like keys. Weapons and items can be brought from the creepy merchant by collecting gold through out the game. The basic types of weapons are pistols, shotguns, submachine guns, frag grenades, incedinary grenades, stun grenades, sniper rifles, a minethrower, magnums and rocket launchers. Another new feature in this game, is that weapons can upgraded by the merchant but they don't come cheap. The upgrades include increasing the weapons fire power, increase it's rate of fire, increasing reloading speed, increasing it's capacity and add on's like scopes and stocks but that depends on the weapon. There are no zombies in the game but there are infected human called Garados which are infected by parasites called Las Plagus. Anyways the Garados are smarter then zombies because they sometimes work in groups to try to kill you and they use weapons like chain saws, pitch folks and cross bows etc. Also there are infected wolves, giant bugs, face huggers, Garados in shining armor, S&M wolvenrine wannabes, bear traps and trip wire rigged to TNT, to worry about. This game plays more like an adventure game than a survival horror game. The game play is Resident Evil 4 greatest strength.

Resident Evil 4 is an instant PS2 classic and it gets 10 red/green herb combinations out of 10.

Noir review

Noir review
Year it was made: 2001
Studio: Bee Train
Distributor: ADV films
Format: Series
Where I saw it: On DVD (personal collection)
Subbed/Dubbed/Both: Both
Genre: Action/Drama/Girls with guns
Lenght: 26 episodes

Story: 9.5/10
Characters: 9.5/10
Animation: 9/10
Art: 10/10
CGI: N/A
Fanservice: 5/10
Action: 9/10
Music: 10/10
SFX: 10/10
Japanese VA: 10/10
English VA: 9.5/10

In depth review
When I read other reviews about Noir I hear things like it's slow, boring, the pacing is all wrong and it's a watered down version of Gunsmith Cats and Serial Experiments Lain. This is not the case. The reason why people think Noir is slow is they misunderstand what this anime is trying to do, which is creating an atmosphere through the art and music, that sucks you into the experience. As for the pacing, it's perfect with a nice mix of action and story. Noir is one of the best action, drama, girls with guns series out there. This anime is about a female assassin, Mireille Bouquet who receives a mysterious email from a teenaged girl named Kirika Yuumura who is also an assassin. Kirika asks Mireille to go on "pilgrimage to the past" with her which means killing a lot of henchmen and other assassins who get in their way. I would tell you more about the plot but then I would have to kill you.

The story in Noir is very original and interesting to watch. What makes Noir interesting is that it doesn't reveal plot details all at once but rather takes it's time to develop to the story. One of Noirs greatest strength is the characters. It's Noir greatest strength because of the interaction between characters, for example Kirika and Mireille relationship, where their forced to work together but their don't really trust each other which is interesting. On the action side of things there are plenty of shoot outs and on the fanservice side of things there is surprisingly very little except for a one or two scenes and a shojo-ai scene in episode 25.

The visuals are excellence with great animation (but the animators cheated a little, so their don't get a perfect score) and the backgrounds look amazing. Noir also has excellence audio from the realistic gun shots and sub-machine gun/assault rifle sounds to the music composed by anime music goddess Yuki Kajiura. The voice acting is great in both Japanese and English with anime legend Kotono Mitsuishi as Mireille in the Japanese track and ADV veterans Shelley Calene-Black, Monica Rial, Tiffany Grant and Hilary Haag in the English track.

Noir is one of the best action/mystery series out there which deserves a cloak and dagger 9.5/10.

What ever happen to the Airborne? This series basically parodies Macross, Gundam and Evangelion. It also has an anime within this anime called Geki-ganger 3 which plays an important role in Nadesico. The interesting thing about Nadesico is that it can go from comedy to serious very quickly and pulls it off seamlessly. Nadesico is about a war between the earth and the Jovians who are from the moons of Jupiter. Earth is getting it's ass kicked and the largest company in the solar system Negal builds the Nadesico to fight the Jovians and save their Martian colonists. Akito colony was attacked and he was teleported to earth, mysteriously. Akito wants to return to Mars and as luck would have it he runs into his childhood Yukrika who is also the captain of the Nadesico and is hired as a cook. The Nadesico is headed to mars on their rescue mission but can they succeed with there ship of fools.

From a visual stand point Nadesico is not that impressive with average art and sometimes sub-par animation. The audio is also nothing to write home about but the music and sound effects have a classic mecha anime feel to it.

If you ask me this anime gets 8/10 but no one asked me..........whatever.

RWA is changing to a weekly schedule

A bi-weekly schedule is just too much work, I need a weekly schedule or I will go postal. I am not here to pimp ADV films or the Anime Network, I am here ask you to consider it as an option.

I got the Anime Network almost a month ago and I got to say it is much improved from last years.
First off, the Anime Network is subscription service through Shaw video on demand or SVOD and its also with Rogers, I think (I use Shaw as my cable company, so I don't really know). The Anime Network has a monthly fee of 4.99 for "20+ hours" of anime (its more like 10+ hours unless you like watching episode 2 before watching episode 1). To access this service all you need is a computer and a cable box.

POSITIVES
- The price is pretty cheap
- Lots of anime
- More convenient the 24/7 Anime Network
- ADV films selection only

NEGATIVES
- Accessing this service was a little confusing at first
- The quality of anime may vary
- ADV films selection only

I AM WATCHING THE FOLLOWING
- Dai-Guard
- Happy Lesson
- Blue Seed
- Chobits

I recommend the Anime Network VOD service.

Kaidohmaru review

<span style="font-weight: bold; Its about this teenaged girl (there is always a teenaged girl) named Kintoki Sakata who was raised as a boy in the Herian period of Japan. The reason she was raised as boy was to take over the Sakata clan because her parents we're afraid that her uncle would take over, if their couldn't produce a male heir (I think her mother is now infertile or her father was shooting blanks). Also her cousin Ohni-Hime wants to marry Kintoki but that soon changes when Ohni-Hime father goes crazy with the killing and blood spilling and kills Kintoki's parents. A servant helped her to hind in the woods but rumors started to spread to nearby villages that Kintoki was a demon and their called her Kaidohmaru. This brings her to the attention of her uncle and he tracks her down, kills her servant but Kintoki is saved by Raiko Minamoto and the rest of the four knights of Kyo. She stays with them. Five years later they investigate a mysterious plaque cause by the evil Shuten Douji who is also a link to Kintoki past.

The story in Kaidohmaru is average and a little confusing because the back story is never revealed in the movie, you have to read the character bios in the extras section which is a serious problem. Another problem with this anime is most of the characters are flat, dull and uninteresting. The fight scenes could have been better if it not for the cutting away to quickly. The only fanservice in this anime is a shoujo-ai kiss.

The visuals in Kaidohmaru is one of it strongest points, with a unique art style, good animation and okay CG. The audio is also strong with excellence music, sound effects and okay voice acting.

This only one half of a great anime, Kaidohmaru gets 5/10. I found this webcomic from a link on the Sexy Losers site.

Post sex clean up ( P.S.C as its called) is a sex/comedy/drama webcomic created by a women by the named Yanagi-San. P.S.C is about two women, Sephia and Auri, who open their own sex shop called the Fetique. Only one problem is the lack of customers and Sephia put her husband Nick's 401K into the Fetique, so they wear S&M ware to attract customers. They also hire a college student named Chael when business finally picks up. The Fetique has a lot bad luck with a feud with a Chinese herbal shop ran by an old lady, Waipuo and her daughters Chun-Mei (who is very strong) and Kun-Mei (who is very violent), lawsuit by Dr.Laura, a creepy stalker and a dead body found in the store.

The characters in this comic have a different views on sex like Sephia is more uptight about it, Chael is very naive and Auri is very liberal about it, which is interesting. There is female nudity and male nudity, actual graphic sex, also anime and sexual humor but it's also serious when it deals with sexual dysfunction, physical abuse and a murder.
The art is very amateur but still good (kinda looks a little bit like Sailor Moon) and actual pictures are sometimes used as backgrounds instead drawing them which is okay.

If you like humor and porn with a feminine touch, mixed together then this webcomic is for you.

WARNING THE FOLLOWING LINK CONTAINS ADULT CONTENT AND YOU MUST AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD GO TO THIS SITE.

http://psc.keenspace.com/

Last Exile review

To commemorate their tenth anniversary, studio Gonzo created Last Exile and spared no expense on the production of it. Last Exile is about two orphans Claus and Lavie who pilot an aircraft called a Vanship to race and to deliver message tubes to make a living. Claus and Lavie also want to cross something called the grand stream which has brutal winds and nasty storms. The world Claus and Lavie in, is at war which two countries Anatray and Disith are waging under the supervision of the mysterious Guild, who seems to control this world. Anyway Claus and Lavie are asked to deliver a mysterious little girl named Alvis to an airship called THE KILL THEM ALL Silvana by a fellow vanship pilot, who was dieing from gun shot wounds given him by a guild starship.

The setting is similar to Germany in the 1930's without the nazis but is contrasted by the Guilds futuristic society. This mix of the two societies wouldn't have worked out as well as it did, if not for the excellent character, clothing, aircraft and airship designs by Range Murata and Mahiro Maeda who worked on the production design. I think they also used a naval consultant to make sure all the characters on the Silvana have real jobs which adds to depth of this anime. The story is good but could have been better, only minor problems like a rare plot hole but nothing glaring. The characters in Last Exile are also good but needed more time to be fleshed out. Last Exile also a healthy douse of action with excellent Vanship racing scenes, amazing Vanship dogfights and epic airship to airship battles. Also it has one scene of fan service.

The first thing, you will notice when you press play is it's freakin beautiful because of the nice mix of hand drawn and CG art. This is achieved by using a soft edges blending effect on lighting the hand drawn characters, to make them not stick out against the CG backgrounds. There are also hand drawn and hand painted backgrounds which are great ( done by studio Bee Train, I believe). The CG effects are the best I've scene with cool smoke and muzzle flashes on guns. The animation is very good and stays that way all the through without cutting any corners.

The second thing, you will notice is the great opening theme "Cloud Age Symphony" by Shuntaro Okino and a great ending theme "Over The Sky" by Hitomi. The music in Last Exile is mostly orchestral which adds to the epic feel of the series. The sound effects take full advantage of dolby 5.1 with realistic machine gun and cannon fire sounds. The Japanese seiyuus and the english voice actors both do a good job but the Japanese seiyuus are slightly better.

Last Exile is an excellent all around addition to any anime collection, it gets a 9/10.

SAVE PUBLIC HEALTHCARE IN CANADA

In this election and ever election since the creation of universal healthcare, the issue of medicare is on the table. The four major political parties would have you believe that the current system of medicare just need more money to solve all are healthcare woes, which is like putting a band aid on, to fix a gun shot wound when the system needs a major overhaul. An overhaul is needed because throwing money at it won't fix the problem ( sorry Romanow ). The Fraser institute estimates that 7 out of 10 provinces will be broke in the year 2055 because of the current system. The current system of medicare is unsustainable and violates the Canada health acts right to equal access. The reason it worked up until now is the rising cost of new equipment, ageing population and doctors leaving for the states are causing a strain on medicare. Medicare needs reform.

Solutions to these Canadian healthcare problems are to, aloud more private healthcare services to exist by funding them through public funds to get them started, end the public monopoly on the healthcare and aloud Canadians to choose private insurance. These solutions will create competion between the public and private system which will reduce cost by making the public system afraid of government cut backs if more people use private services and making the private system is afraid of losing profits if more people use public services which make a win win situation for all Canadians. It will reduce wait times because you won't have to put up with one system and gives higher saladies to doctors which gives more of an incentives to stay in Canada. These reforms have work in countries like Sweden which had the same healthcare system and the same problems that Canada is having now and fix them but letting private investment in.

The two things stopping Canada form reforming medicare are public administrators who lack the political will to change anything and unions in the healthcare field are dead set against these reforms because they like a public monopoly on healthcare, gives them political power and a lot money in union dues, which is drained out of the healthcare system. These special interest groups are saying their looking out for you by defending the current system of medicare but their only looking out for themselves. Should they tell you whats in your best interest in terms of healthcare?

In closing these reforms are needed, aloud choice in healthcare for all Canadians and will save public healthcare in Canada if used.

-Roy Romanow is the author of Romanow report on national healthcare in 2003.

NUPGE and why I hate them.

The National Union of Public and General Employees had the gall to make fun of the National Citizens Coalition and Simon Fraser institute on there website. The NUPGE is Canada's largest union with 340,000 members nation wide. First off, the NUPGE stated that the N.C.C was run by corporate fat cats that favor the rich which is wrong. I believe the N.C.C is helping average Canadians to be less reliant on the government and have more freedom. Second, NUPGE also stated that the Fraser loves to give Canadians bad news about medicare, so they can further there "corporate" goals which is almost slanderous, if it wasn't so outrageous. The Fraser institute was giving Canadians the truth about medicare, which is the current system is unsustainable. The NUPGE only cares about there power and there political agenda not the average Canadian.

Voices from a distant star review

The anime this week is Voices from a distant star which is an excellence short film by director Makoto Shinkai, who also did all the animation and all the CG. Voices from a distant star is bittersweet love story about two young lovers Nobuo and Mikako who try to continue there relationship eventhough their are separated by a war with aliens known as the tarsians. The only way Nobuo and Mikako can stay together is through email that takes months and then takes years to arrive as Mikako moves further into deep space. The story starts out with Nobuo and Mikako spending what would their last day together before Mikako ships out in a TRACER ( giant robot ) to fight the tarsians.

The visuals in Voices from a distant star are amazing because of the well done CG backgrounds, as well as hand drawn backgrounds, CG effects like smoke or laser beams are great, the CG animation on things like the TRACERs and tarsians is well done and hand drawn animation is excellence considering its done by one person. The audio is also great with a nice main theme playing through out, the Japanese seiyuu's (voice actors) do a good job and ADV films also did a good job with the english dub. The story is this anime greatest quality which is emotional and intense.

Voice from a distant star get a 10/10. It's short but sweet.

Conservatives in Canada rant

I'm part of growing minority of Conservative minded Canadians, who have been painted as rednecks, misfits, religious fundamentalist's or tools of corporations which is simply untrue. Conservatives are not all like the Geogre W.Bush's or Bill O'Reilly's of this world, their are compassionate people and who are trying improve this country. Conservatives are improving this country by fighting for lower taxes for all Canadians and corporations,a two-tier health care system that will preserve public health care and better government not more government. The reason the Canadian people never hear this is because the media is slightly biased toward conservatives and the liberal parties (liberals and NDP) are always demonizing the conservative party. It's not completely hopeless for conservative minded Canadians though because of organizations like the National citizens coalition and Simon Fraiser institute are getting the conservative messenge out there.
